Acacia chundra, also known as Senegalia chundra, is a perennial deciduous tree native to Asia, particularly India and the Indian Ocean region. Growing up to 12-15 meters in height, this tree is known by various names including Karangali, Kodalimurunkai, Lal Khair, Rat Kihiriya, and Red Cutch.

1.Timber and Shipbuilding: The wood is durable and resistant, making it ideal for shipbuilding and other timber applications.

2.Chemical Products: The tree is a source of catechutannic acid, extracted as cutch, which is used for dyeing and preserving fabrics from weathering and mildew. Additionally, the wood produces tannin, which is useful in various industrial processes.

3.Medicinal Uses: The tree's extracts have been traditionally used to treat throat pain and cough. Katha, another extract, is employed in astringent products and aids in digestion while also soothing skin irritations.

4.Bee Forage: The tree serves as a food source for bees, supporting local apiculture.
