Whale Watching from Talpe on Shared Boat

This tour gives you an opportunity to see the biggest mammals on earth, the whales, in their natural habitat. Get a chance to see blue whales, sperm whales and fin whales as they swim in the waters to the south of Sri Lanka.

Experience:

You will be picked from your hotel in talpe at 5.45 am and driven to Mirissa in an air-conditioned vehicle. The journey from talpe to the Mirissa Harbour takes approximately 45 minutes while the boat will depart from the harbour at exactly 6.30 am. The whale watching tour lasts for 4 hours from and to the harbour while you will be spending 1 hour at the site where the whales are mostly visible to the naked eye. The entire tour duration will be 8 hours.

Your boat will reduce speed as well as the engine noise when approaching the site while it will stop at a safe distance, at least 300 feet away. The closest approach can be about 100 feet while the tour promises responsible tourism with minimal environmental impact. The naturalist on board will educate you about the species of whales and their behavioural patterns while assisting you to identify the whales that you see. Always make sure that you don’t disturb any of the whales that are at proximity. Once you are back at the harbour completing your adventure, you will be dropped back at your hotel in talpe.
